we met up with karen on friday, the sister of one of susan's friends from residency, and her boyfriend mark. we dined on calamari, shrimp pasta, and sea bass at la vecchia in santa monica, then had a few drinks at a bar on venice. good times.

now don't misjudge us, we absolutely love meeting new people and learning about lives that are very different from our own. but there is something satisfying about hanging with people who are in a similar place and have similar issues. satisfying? congruent? click? we'll need to invent a new word for this phenomenon. it's the opposite of what happens when really great friends drift after they have life events that are out of sync. one marries and has 3 kids and the other brings his dates to a rented studio in nyc. that sort of thing.

this couple is into music and housing and relationship. we like that.
