cherry sleigh

this has been our search phrase on craigslist and google for the last few months. it was finally the la times that lead us to our beloved sleigh.

it's not easy to find a modern sleigh. we prefer clean lines, dark wood, the usual, with some modern contrast. we found the first potential set in rancho cucamonga when we checked out living spaces and apple furniture and saw one made by najarian, the rodeo collection. it was beautiful, except for these metal buttons on the side that hue wanted to snap off. we considered it, but kept looking.

we returned to venice furniture row for plummers (great stuff!) and levitz (uh-uh) which had cheaper sets. and we started looking online for dealers closer to us. after a lot of thought and rethought and laying around in a variety of artificial bedrooms, we settled on thomas international in torrance. they had a 10% coupon that would at least cover sales tax.

the problem was that they had two great sets made by najarian: the rodeo and the vicky. that was an even tougher decision: the rodeo (larger drawers, solid base, slide out plank, but those silver buttons...) or the vicky (best seller, quilt rest, higher clearance, no buttons). we chose the vicky. the only problem is that now we need a new mattress! so we'll be out shopping again soon... yet another big expense since we're looking at tempur-pedic. oh and one other problem: it's a bit big. we have to walk sideways to pass beyond the end of the bed.
