year three

we're not really basketball fans, but we went to culver city with keao and roxanna to catch the spurs v cavs game and grab dinner. it's bar food, but we tried something new: fried snickers. susan thought it might be slang for some kind of british food, but it's actually a single deep-fried snickers candy bar. we split it 4 ways and it wasn't as bad as it sounds.

the weekend leads to a hunt for a treasure of sorts. susan is starting to have difficulties fitting into her non-maternity clothes. we have to find pants asap. the best looking jeans for the price turn out to be from target as they're on clearance. we've looked at all the local stores la cienega, jeffersion and valley) and some not so local (east gate, fullerton and anaheim). each store only has size 16's or size 2's. what kind of selection is that? we luck out and finally find a pair! our hunt is successful. these will be worn every weekend for the next 3 months..

saturday we get our mazda serviced for some routine care. this time we visit the huntington beach branch, which happens to serve a saturday brunch just like the dealer in tustin. so while we wait, we grub and watch infomercials. hue is tempted to purchase property in angel fire, new mexico. susan's cooler head prevails and she's able to talk hue into forgetting the 800 number.

later that night we spend the evening watching a chinese opera dvd with dale. prior to the show, he gives us a narrative of the entire opera, which takes an hour, and the actual opera is 2.5 hours long. so dale is very passionate about this play, as he has acted out some of the main character's roles. he feels a connection as the lead is a foreigner in a strange land who's separated from his homeland - much like dale is an immigrant who wasn't able to return to his own home for many years.

our 3rd anniversary was 5/29 - thanks to all who remembered, even though everyone seems to think it's on the 25th. again, it doesn't matter since we try to celebrate the whole month of may. the theme this year is glass; susan gets a snowboard (fiberglass- see pics) and hue gets a hard-to-find black glass cutting board. gender reversal? and to keep with tradition, we continued our annual love letters to each other. they really strengten our commitment to each other. here's one to grow on...
