stomp

started in 1991 in the UK and moved to nyc in 1994, stomp has been around for years, but we've never had a chance to see it. as a treat for mother's day, hue took susan to the performance at the pantages theater in hollywood.

we went early to browse one of the many farmer's markets around the city and had a lunch of korean pancakes, el salvadorean pupusas, and milk straight from the coconut. we ate near a reggae drummer who had a setup with several kid-sized drums and played continuously from bob marley songs to baa baa black sheep, while the little ones joined the band.

but the hot sun forced us to escape the market and arrive on time for stomp and the air-conditioning. our favorite part of the show were the percussionist sinks and the rap-like newspapers. any object can be made into an instrument of music and the choreography here is impressive. of course, we spent the rest of the day beating on our chests and legs to our own personal drummer.

Stomp's nothing compared to Floss.

"Is this your floss?"
