so friday, susan had her regular check up with her ob. after listening to the baby for several long moments, our ob clocks the fetal heart rate at 100-110 bpm. last visit the baby was at ~160. this was very concerning and she wanted us to see a specialist. unfortunately, the only perinatologist in our hmo was booked solid and wouldn't see us until next week, which meant we had to go our of the ucla system and into the cedars sinai network. we hoped that since it was an immediate necessity our insurance might cover it. unfortunately, the approval is necessary and that takes time, which we didn't have the luxury. so we pay out of pocket ~$660 for an level two ultrasound.
that's the bad news, but the good news is that after a late visit with the kind perinatologist, we find out that our baby is healthy and the heart rate is up to ~140 bpm, an acceptable rate. and even better new is that we're expecting a son. hue wasn't able to see it, but you can check out the plumbing on this guy in the picture labelled with boy>>> the other pictures show our son yawning. the kid has got a gianormous mouth.
to celebrate, we go to the beverly center mall and pf changs for some hot and sour soup and lettuce wraps.
now for the difficult process of coming up with a name. ironically we had several girl names we liked.
